The centre has a great stimulating environment with plenty of space, both indoors and out, for exploration and learning including a fantastic new wing.
Our passionate, professional and enthusiastic staff have also been here on average for more than five years. They absolutely love the children, which is reflected in the happy environment you’ll find when visiting.
ECE 20th Celebrations
This year we celebrated 20 years, which was a fabulous milestone for us. It also coincided with the opening of our new two-storey wing. We had a fabulous whanau celebration, including the blessing of the building by kaumatua, a performance by the children and a shared lunch.
Family and Dramatic play
Albie the Fireman
Today Albie transformed into the role of a fireman. He comes running saying ” run run there is a fire”, he quickly runs to the hoop pole outside and slides down the pole just like real fireman do. “I have to put on my special fireman suit and my helmet”, says Albie.
Dramatic role play provides Albie an opportuity to practice real life skills and become the fireman he wants to be and is of interest to him.
Developing our carpentry area
How it all started ?
A trolley was broken, and Hala wants to fix it. The trolley Hala finds is beyound repair, but the children are interested in hammering and sawing. So, we open up the carpentry table and the children flock around. Ethan says “we don’t have a screwdriver” and Albie says “the saw doesn’t work” Jessy says “the wood is too hard to cut”
What did we do next ?
We spoke to the children about getting some tools that work and some new wood that would be easier to cut. We invited parents to help us source some wood.
